Compared to all that goes into creating and producing television programming, the sci-fi sounding prospect of transmitting them over satellite TV equipment is much, much simpler. After all, every type of television program presents its own unique types of problems, even though all satellite television is pretty much the same as the next. Even though it takes a rocket to get there, it’s not rocket science once a satellite itself is orbiting the earth. There’s really nothing to it.

Up, Up And Right Here

The process of selecting which channels that will be included in the subscription package is usually the hard part. Is it going to be sports and military channels for him, or soap opera’s and lovey dovey shows for her? The programming people who create the content for these great channels all pretty much do the same thing. They use an uplink to encrypt, compress, and send the programming to the appropriate satellite. This process is the same for taped dramas as it is for live sports.

The orbiting satellite uses a downlink to send the programming back down to earth. On its way back, the signal is captured by satellite dishes which decrypt the channels that are contained in the customer’s subscription package. This step involves pretty basic satellite TV equipment. Your neighbors will have dishes and hookups very similar to yours regardless of how loaded or stripped down their subscription package may be. The signal moves from the dish to the TV through the use of a special cable. Speaking of cable, subscribers to cable TV get their signal in the same way. The same type of satellite equipment picks up the download from space, decrypts it, and then sends it to the cable station. The station then sends the signal for the customer’s subscription package by way of cable to the customer’s home TV.

The difference between cable and satellite TV equipment is really pretty obvious. The cable customer receives his programming from the big dishes at the cable TV company, while the satellite customer has his own dish somewhere on his or her own property. Today’s satellite TV equipment only allows a single channel to come into the home at one time. The channel can be viewed by more than one television set at one time, however, if the family wants to view two different programs at once, then two satellite dishes will be needed.

The signal that arrives from the cable company can be split to allow each TV in the home to view a different channel or any number can view the same channel at the same time. Viewers believe that satellite TV equipment can fall victim to signal obstructions and that would be right. However, obstructions caused by weather can affect the signal going to the cable customers just as easily. No matter what kind of satellite TVequipment you have, the choices and options are huge.

Many service providers offer both satellite TV and internet for their customers. Many companies offer a discount to their customers who purchase both services together. If a person already has satellite television, they would have an easy time upgrading their internet to satellite DSL service, because the customer would already have most of the equipment needed.

Satellite TV and internet packages often offer value to the customer because, by combining their services, often also with cell phones or “land line” type phones, the companies themselves are able to offer lower prices to customers who purchase more than one of the available services together. Besides the price, ease of use is found in having many services all billed from one company. Charges appearing on one bill, with the bill for all services being due at one time.

Satellite TV and internet packages are ideal for technology loving and technology challenged alike. Many services are easy to use and follow basic instructions, tips, and equipment. They can also have many customizable features for more savvy users. The internet available through satellite providers is much quicker than dial-up service because it is DSL, which is a service much like cable internet service, using an always on internet connection delivered through a modem.

The service and internet providers will often offer comparable or even less expensive prices than their cable television providing competitors. Besides offering discounts for purchasing services together, the satellite and internet can be available in different service levels depending on the customer’s specific needs. Some can even be viewed online with the simple download of some software.

If a person needs very fast internet and wants all the movie channels in addition to the basic and extended programming, the company can offer these at reasonable rates as well. Additionally, if the other extreme were required, basic internet and satellite television service could also be provided at a less expensive price than could be found through another type of provider, such as cable companies or telephone companies.

Purchasing satellite television and internet together is also a great option for people who may not be able to find these types of premium entertainment options in their area. Satellite television and internet services are often available in many more areas than cable or even telephone services are. People can even enjoy these luxuries when traveling or camping.

Of all the technological advances which entertain the American people, among the most enjoyed are satellite television and internet. These people are able to keep connected, get up to date, or unwind from a stressful day. Television and internet have changed the way people connect to each other and disconnect from their day. Finding these pastimes at a reasonable price can make them much more enjoyable.

If you’re a couch potato or a computer addict, you can combine those two loves and watch satellite TV online instead! We see a lot of huge advances in electronic products these days with gadgets like Apple’s iPhone, which was unveiled early in 2007. This tech toy blends cell phone capabilities with music playing and websurfing, to name just three of its many features.

Todays computer has even more capabilities with VoIP, music downloading, games, etc. For some time now, computers have been capable of playing cable TV by using special video cards. But now you can get satellite TV online too and watch from the convenience of your computer chair or on your mobile unit and watch from anywhere!

Putting Together Your Online Home Theater

To watch satellite TV online, you only need a few things. The most important components are a computer or compatible mobile device, and of course an internet connection. You’ll also need some sort of software program that will provide you with an interface. Two of my personal favorites are SatelliteDirect and iSatelliteLink for laptop or desktop use. They are both very high quality with a small one time fee gaining you lifetime access to thousands of channels. Say goodbye to that cable bill! MobileTVelite is my favorite pick for your mobile applications and you can check all 3 of them out to the right of this page.

At softpedia.com, for example, there were several useful programs available for your entertainment, such as MyTheater. MyTheater works with several DVB PCI cards, including DVB-S, DVB-C, and DVB-T. MyTheater will allow you to watch satellite TV online, and it also allows you to listen to satellite radio.

That means you can jam out to your favorite music too! MyTheater is shareware and costs $40. Newegg.com is a good online store if you’re looking for great deals on computer components such as CPUs, RAM, and video cards, DVB cards, generally used with actual satellite installations were non-existent (only DVI cards were available). You may also be able to find any items you might need at our store at the top of the page.

Of course, before you purchase any system, software or components, you should check out which satellite service will best fit your needs. For example, Hawaii is one state with coverage issues (although standard satellite TV is available). Location also matters, specifically whether or not you live in a condo or apartment, where you may not be able to mount a conventional satellite to the property. If you can get the reception or internet connection though, it would be well worth your time to look into the online satellite tv options. No matter if you’re in a room at home that doesn’t even have a television, or your child is in the back seat of your car with his or her iphone, you’ll be on your way to having the ability to watch satellite TV online.

The main function of a TV satellite dish is to capture signal broadcasts from television satellites. Usually, these signals could cause noises due to errors from satellites that result in messed up audios or videos.

When this happens, the TV dish redirects signals to a “low-noise block” converter, also known as LNB converter, to ensure the signals that will be sent to your TV receiver becomes readable.

Where To Buy Satellite Equipments

Some of the largest satellite network companies, such as DISH Network and DirecTV, provide the TV satellite dish without charge when you subscribe for a satellite TV service with them. For instance, Dish Network offers a 20-inch TV satellite dish with advanced low-noise block converter, while DirecTV provides an 18-inch dual low-noise block dish when you order or subscribe a certain service package from them.

After choosing the TV satellite dish you prefer, another important equipment to receive different channels is the satellite receiver. This receiver will amplify and decode signals from the low-noise block converter and send it to your TV in a readable format.

If you think picking a TV satellite dish is tricky, then you will probably be overwhelmed by the available choices of satellite receivers. For instance, Dish Network offers its customers with several choices for a receiver, including a standard receiver for one TV, dual-tuner receivers for multiple televisions, DVR receivers for recording, replaying and pausing live shows on TV and HD receivers for a high-definition entertainment experience.

If you prefer the TV satellite dish of DirecTV and wish to complement it with their receiver, then you can choose from several options as well. These include a standard receiver for single-television viewing, DVR receiver and HD receiver.

The Best Satellite TV Service Provider

When you’re torn between choosing satellite equipments from DirecTV and Dish Network, you have to consider the price and available programming packages of each company to ensure all your needs will be met. Program packages could range from $20 to $100 per month.

Be aware that a large TV satellite dish does not mean you can receive more channels on your TV. Instead, the amount of channels will depend on the package you bought. For instance, if you want 50 channels and below, expect to pay around $20 while over 300 channels may cost you up to $80 each month.

You can also add extra channels, such as for your sports, news, music or other personal needs, on top of the programming package you ordered. Both Dish Network and DirecTV offer a large collection of channels and shows. For this reason, choosing the best satellite network will depend on personal preferences.

Once a family or an individual decides to switch from cable to satellite, they must contact a satellite TV provider. The provider has all of the equipment and dish for ones home. They know exactly how to install a family’s satellite system for trouble free service. While it is true that someone can install their own system, it isn’t recommended. Trying to install the dish while on a ladder can be tricky. Once the dish is installed, one must point the dish into the correct latitude and longitude for the satellite to begin streaming.

This has to be done while high up on a ladder. If there is any ground item blocking the signal then the dish must be moved. In order to get the best reception available, the owner will have to divide the time between being outside on a ladder with being inside to see how much the dish needs to move to fine tune the system. A satellite TV provider has installers who do this everyday. They are fast, safe, and professional. Before the installer leaves the house, they will check to make sure that the customer is getting all of the channels they paid for, and that the picture is fine tuned to be the best that in can be.

Locating A Satellite TV Provider

Finding a satellite TV provider can be as easy as looking in ones local paper or yellow pages. Many communities have several providers who will work with you. An individual may have to wait for the system to be installed because of the volume of business and lack of extra installers. The wait shouldn’t be too long though, maybe a week or so for the house to get done. The actual installation normally only takes about one hour to complete.

If a customer lives in a rural community, there may be only one provider for the entire community. With this model, it may take substantially longer to get a system installed. If an individual cannot find a satellite TV provider, they can call either Dish or Direct TV. They will be very helpful to find an installer that will service the area where one lives. In some remote locations where there isn’t any cable, satellite service is the only way to have TV. Even in these places there is always a way to get the system set up and working properly.

A satellite television receiver can help those outside the receiving area of broadcast television and in areas where cable is not available receive quality television. You can have your choice of which satellite TV channel you choose, provided it is included in the package you have signed up to receive.

Once you have agreed to a specific plan, the satellite TV channel you have chosen will be one of several available for you. The descrambler card in your satellite receiver will be programmed with all available channels, and when you select one of the satellite TV channels to view, it will isolate that one signal and send it through to your television. While the receiver is actually receiving all of the channels you opted for, only the one selected will get through.

Most receivers will only allow one satellite TV channel to be viewed at a time and if you have two television sets connected to the same receiver, the same satellite TV channel will be shown on both sets. Many satellites now have the option of having two low noise blockers (LNB) connected to allow the satellite TV channel to be sent to two separate receivers simultaneously.

Recording Different Shows Now Possible

If your satellite receiver has the capability for two lines being input from the satellite dish, it is possible to view one satellite TV channel while recording a second channel. If your television has the picture-in-picture option, you can see the different channels at the same time. However, which satellite TV channel you can view is determined by the card in your receiver.

One of the chief advantages of satellite television is the ability to receive more channels than with regular UHF or VHF television. These signals beamed from an antenna need a direct line of sight for your home antenna to pull it in. The signal strength of the originating signal must also be strong enough to reach your antenna and the typical longest range is about 50 miles with line of sight. A satellite TV channel is also dependent on line of sight, but since it is coming from a satellite 7,000 miles above the Earth, the line of sight can cover about a third of the globe.

Many of the newer satellite receivers operate in the digital mode and most have the option to send out digital signals to your high definition television, provided the satellite TV channel is broadcasting in HD.
